Recent Updates
  • Attention Verizon internet customers, as you may know Verizon has sold its FIOS and DSL to Frontier. Your service will stay the same with one exception, if you have a verizon.net email address you will need to either register a new email with a different email provider such as Yahoo, Gmail, Hotmail, etc or do nothing and your email will change to a @frontier.com email address sometime between July and September. They will notify you by email in advance when they are going to change the email.
  • Comcast users: Comcast has upgraded their free antivirus suite to include the latest version of Norton Internet Security. Comcast allows Norton for 7 computers on home internet and 25 on business class internet.
  • Since the release of Windows 7 the operating systems I recommend for new computers are XP Professional, 7 Home Premium, 7 Professional. If you are not sure which one to get please call and I will explain the differences and find the one that best suits your needs.
  • AVG's most current version is 9.0. If you are using version 8.5 or lower or have been receiving notifications that your version is expired click here to download the latest version. Once downloaded open it to install the free version. If you have any questions please call me.
Alerts
  • Be careful with facebook emails, messages, and links. If you do not know who its from or there is no description of the link then just ignore or ask the person if they meant to send the link.
  • Set good passwords. If your password is a word in the dictionary you may be under risk. Either add numbers to your password or change it to something harder to guess. I have seen a lot of email and facebook accounts taken over recently because of very simple passwords.
  • There is another virus that you may come across when visiting websites. If you are browsing the internet and visit a website where you get multiple popups saying that you have a virus, please ignore them by clicking the "X" in the corner. Do not click Yes, OK, Scan Now, or even Cancel. You may have to close your browser all-together. Note what brand of Anti Virus protection you have and only follow its instructions. For example, if you have AVG and it finds a virus, it will tell you that AVG has found a virus.
